News Desk: Microsoft launched much awaited its cloud-based productivity and collaboration suite – Office 365 on Tuesday.
Microsoft’s Office 365 is an online version of its Office software that combines to exchange e-mail, share point collaboration, the Office Web Apps and Lync messaging.
Office 365 is Microsoft’s best answer yet to Google Apps for Business. With an aim to deliver the collaboration features in productivity suites, Office 365 is launched.
Google Apps for Business costs at around $50 per year, while Office 365 will cost from $ 6 to $27 per month per user depending on the seven plans.
There are seven price plans for different users; for small business and individuals it would cost $6 per user per month. Microsoft charges $10 to $27 per user per month under four enterprise plans and $4 and $10 per person per month under two plans for kiosk workers.
It offers 25 GB of e-mail, SharePoint access, and Lync messaging under small business and enterprise plans while the more expensive price tiers include office Web App access, the full desktop Office suite, and Lync voice capabilities.
The Office 365 under small business plans has no phone support while enterprise plans has better security –HTTPS access to share point.
Best thing about the Office 365 that single-person can use it for their business purpose unlike its Microsoft Business Productivity Online Standard Suite (BPOS).
Announcing the Office 365 launch, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has particularly stressed on the value Office 365 can offer small businesses.
Microsoft would try to fulfill the needs of corporate world through its Office 365, as it will have direct completion with Google Apps for Business. Microsoft’s Office 365 has more extensive features than BPOS.
